In the late 1970s, the Khmer Rouge was in control of Cambodia. In the short time they were in control, the committed a mass genocide of two to three million Cambodians. As a result, Cambodia’s older generation is all but missing. Currently, 80% of the population is under 30 and 42% is under 15 years of age. Less than 2% of the population is Christian.

Cambodia has been likened to South Korea in the 1960s- predominantly Buddhist, young population, very poor. In just one generation South Korea has become a financial and Christian powerhouse. The same is on the horizon for Cambodia.

The goal of the YWAM (Youth with a Mission) base in Battambang is to see the nation of Cambodia transformed for Christ in one generation. They are passionate and living for Jesus every day. We want to take our gifts and talents and join with this thriving, vital community, offering what we can to see this city and country changed by the love of Jesus. We feel God calling us to take the heart of Lifehouse to Cambodia.
